This Privacy Policy explains how Monterey Bay Contrology (“Monterey Bay Contrology,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information. Monterey Bay Contrology is a classical Pilates studio located at 26621 Carmel Center Place, Suite 101, Carmel, California 93923.

That includes The Pilates Standard’s registration website, Zoom, Facebook and Instagram. Those companies’ own privacy policies govern how they handle your information.
By using our Website or services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Website or provide us with personal information.

- Respond to your questions and requests;
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and track sessions, classes, packages, and attendance;
- Process payments, issue receipts and keep financial records;
- Design a safe, appropriate Pilates program for your body and goals;

- With your separate permission, share your testimonial, name, photo or video on our Website or social media;
- Maintain and secure the Website and understand how visitors use it;
- Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights, safety and property of our clients, teachers and the studio.
Health and fitness information
You may choose to tell us about injuries, conditions, surgeries, pregnancy or other health details. We use this information only to tailor your instruction, keep you safe and respond in an emergency.
- We share it only with the teachers who work with you, and with others only with your permission, in an emergency, or when the law requires it.
- We never use it for advertising and never sell or share it for marketing.
- Monterey Bay Contrology is a Pilates studio, not a medical provider. Our teachers are not physicians or physical therapists, and the information you share with us is generally not protected by HIPAA. We still treat it as confidential and protect it with extra care.
- You decide what to tell us. Please tell us about anything that could affect your safety during exercise.
Photos, videos and testimonials
We will not post your name, image, video or testimonial without your permission. If you give permission and later change your mind, contact us, and we will remove the content from our Website and social media accounts within a reasonable time. We may not be able to remove copies that others have already shared.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with other businesses for their own marketing. We share it only in the limited situations below.

| Anyone, with your consent | When you ask or agree | A physician or physical therapist you ask us to talk with |
We may also share information that has been combined or de-identified so it no longer identifies you.
5. Cookies, analytics and online tracking
Our Website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to work properly and to understand how visitors use it. Cookies are small text files your browser stores.
- Essential cookies keep the Website and its contact form working and secure.
- Analytics cookies may be used to tell us which pages are visited and how people find us. We review this information in aggregate, not to identify individual visitors.
- Embedded content and social links. Pages may include links to or embedded content from Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps, or other services. Those companies may set their own cookies and collect information about your visit under their own privacy policies.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the Website may not work. Many analytics providers also offer their own opt-out tools.
Tracking by others. Third-party services that provide analytics or embedded content on our Website, such as social media platforms or mapping services, may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites. We do not use this information for targeted advertising.
Do Not Track signals. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, our Website does not currently respond to them.
Our marketing emails. If we send you newsletters or workshop announcements, each email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not stop service messages about bookings you have made.
6. How long we keep information, security and children
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires.
| Record | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Contact form inquiries that do not lead to a booking | Only as long as needed to respond and follow up, then deleted |
| Client records, intake and health information, signed waivers | While you are a client, and afterward for as long as needed for legal, insurance, and tax purposes |
| Payment and tax records | For the period required by tax and accounting laws |
| Teacher training and continuing education records | For as long as needed to verify hours, assessments and certificates for graduates |
| Marketing email list | Until you unsubscribe |
| Testimonials, photos, videos | Until you ask us to remove them, or we stop using them |
When we no longer need information, we delete it, destroy it securely or de-identify it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. These include limiting access to the teachers and staff who need it, storing paper and electronic records securely, using password-protected accounts, and using reputable service providers. No website, email, or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive health or payment details through our website contact form or by regular email.
If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by California law.
Children’s privacy
Our Website is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the Website, please contact us, and we will delete it.
If we provide Services to anyone under 18, we do so only with the written consent of a parent or legal guardian, who provides the minor’s information and signs our waiver on the minor’s behalf.

How to make a request
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to fix information that is wrong or out of date.
